Subject to the standard reviews and approvals at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), the Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), and Harvard Medical School (HMS), the DFCI will initiate and administer your appointment as Instructor in Medicine at HMS, with associated clinical appointments at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Brigham and Women's Hospital. At Dana-Farber, within the Department of Medical Oncology, you will be a member of the Division of Gastrointestinal Oncology. Subject to HMS approval, you will have an Instructor in Medicine appointment. As a DFCI Category 1 Instructor we anticipate that your academic career path will focus on clinical care and clinical investigation, with a specialization in the treatment of patients with gastrointestinal cancers. The term of the Category 1 Instructor appointment is one year from your start date. The appointment is renewable annually, subject to Department review and approval. Future academic promotions at HMS will be based on academic accomplishments assessed by Harvard's Clinical Expertise and Innovation criteria. As outlined in the offer letter, including: For the first three years, it is expected that your clinical duties will represent approximately 70% of your effort/salary. Initially, you will be expected to see outpatients during four halfday clinic sessions per week. You will also be expected to attend on the inpatient service for three weeks per year and the GI oncology inpatient consultation service for two to three weeks per year. Your clinical responsibilities, which will be assessed on an annual basis, may vary based on institutional and departmental needs.
