Experience in Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flight planning and execution.
Experience in using Canadian Air Navigation Services.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of ICAO Standards and Practices, in particular Annexes 4 and 15 including the operational requirement for information concerning airspace facilities, services, procedures and hazards.
Knowledge of terminal navigation, communication, navigational aids and surveillance systems.
Knowledge of enroute navigation, communications, navigational aids and surveillance systems.
Knowledge of the Canadian NOTAM system.
Knowledge of Instrument Flight Procedures.
Basic knowledge of Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Probability and Statistics.
Knowledge of Geodesy (geodetics) fundamentals for the purpose of flight procedures design.
Abilities:

Job Summary
The AIM IFP Designer is responsible for the development, independent review and maintenance of Instrument Flight Procedures including Instrument Approach Procedures, Departure Procedures, Arrival Procedures, Airways and Minimum Vectoring Altitudes. The AIM IFP Designer assists in AIM special project duties as assigned and adheres to the standards and recommended practices of CARS Part VIII relating to the instrument procedure design standards outlined in TP 308, and associated AIM documentation.

Key Accountabilities:
Produces the original design of an Instrument Flight Procedures in accordance with the approved established procedures / criteria.
Performs the verification of Instrument Flight Procedures in accordance with the approved established criteria. Designs may be produced by peers, Suppliers or External Designs Organizations.
Assesses changes to Aeronautical data to determine if they impact Instrument Flight Procedures.
Amends Instrument Flight Procedures when the need for corrective action has been identified.
Ensures any required NOTAM and associated action for Instrument Flight Procedures is taken in a timely manner in accordance with AIM procedures.
Assesses impact of proposed vertical structures on to the Instrument Flight Procedures inventory.
Ensures Instrument Flight Procedures data is compliant with established standards, procedures and criteria and that corrective action is promptly taken as required.
Ensures amendments to Instrument Flight Procedures data are compliant with regulations.
Ensures requests for publication changes are complete with all the required information.
Job Requirements
Education:
Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
Possessing or having possessed a Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and Instrument Rating (IR) - Group 1 or 4 or military equivalent.
