In addition to above training requirement, this position requires at least two years of previous work experience
Experience with cast and traction set up is preferred

Must pass clinical competency testing

POSITION SUMMARY:
The orthopedic tech performs both administrative and patient care support for orthopedic patients. In the patient care area, the orthopedic tech assists with duties such as applying and removing casts, splints and braces, instructing patients with the use of crutches and tractions, under the direction and supervision of Operations Manager and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice. In the administrative area the orthopedic tech gathers patient information for registration, schedules appointments, verifies demographic information and assists in the facilitation of patient access to services.

EDUCATION:
Minimum of High School education/GED required.
Work also requires successful completion of either:
an Orthopedic Technology program or
a Medical Assistant program or
military technical medic training or
at least one full year coursework in allied health (which includes A&P) or
at least one year on-the-job training in orthopedic related work
