About the role
The Subsea Geospatial Analyst is a member of the Subsea, Civil and Marine Engineering Team with the Chevron ENGINE Center. The role requires expertise in enterprise geographical information systems (GIS), cloud data management, analytics, map production and automated workflows, with a strong background in compiling and managing geospatial databases from Oil & Gas field development following industry standardized models. The role will be responsible for maintaining the subsea geospatial database and publishing to enterprise geospatial solutions.
Responsibilities
- Database development: Develop new ESRI ArcGIS databases across a wide range of domains including Offshore Subsea Operations, Major Capital Projects, Subsurface & Wells and onshore manufacturing facilities in company and industry defined data models e.g. International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) Subsea Survey Data Model (SSDM), Chevron Sub-Sea Infrastructure Data Model (SSIM).
- Geospatial Web-portal maintenance: Ensure the Chevron Subsea GIS portal web service is current, and the service level is maintained as required. Support ad hoc user requests and troubleshooting.
- Spatial Data Visualization: Covering data considerations, map-design principles, visualization methods, map production, and the creation of web-based maps and dashboards.
- Geospatial Application Development: Drive the development of new tools and functionality within the geospatial portal. Interface with other company provided Systems of Record / SaaS solutions to enhance users' experience, spatial analysis and real-time data visualization.
- Cloud Data management: Organize and manage all ArcGIS databases and associated geospatial datasets on the dedicated Chevron tenant of Microsoft Azure. Control/ facilitate accessibility to Subsea GIS portal users and other company defined SaaS applications. Demonstrated proficiency in managing Azure storage areas, tools such as FME and Databricks, and expertise in one or more data-focused programming language/technology such as SQL, Python, JavaScript, R, PowerShell etc.
- Optimize web-service level performance: Collaborate with Chevron product line architects and owners to establish efficient data process workflows to simplify and enhance the Subsea GIS portal web-service performance. Automate ArcGIS workflows for data administration, analysis and service linking using industry tools such as: Python API, notebooks, and ArcGIS REST API.
- Technical Engagement: Establishes & maintains working relationships with key stakeholders within the ENGINE, Chevron Technology Project & Execution, Capital Projects, Subsurface & Wells across the Enterprise.
- Communication skills: A strong communicator who can develop plans with clear, achievable goals; generate buy-in and alignment from key stakeholders; engage and motivate others to contribute their best and simplify complex technical problems & solutions to enable stakeholder commitment.

- Microsoft Azure Cloud Skills Training certification.
- Experience using Microsoft Visio, Miro, Slack or similar, to optimize or develop automated process workflows and system architecture would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated success working on multi-discipline teams as a technical contributor.
- Experience of applying agile project management principles.
- Familiarity with offshore survey data acquisition methods, geodesy and coordinate projection mathematics and transformation would be highly regarded.
