Unposting Date: 2026-06-19 11:59 PM This role requires full time on site presence . Your role CBC North - Nunavut is looking for a host for the Qulliq Morning show, based in Iqaluit. As host you are the voice of Nunavut/Nunavik and will inform and entertain the audience for 3 hours every weekday morning in both English and Inuktitut. You are ready to connect with the diverse community that is Nunavut and Nunavik and have a keen understanding of the lifestyle, culture and politics of the Inuit Nunangat. As host you are excited to bring new ideas to the show that will be relevant to a younger audience. You are a curious and confident broadcaster. Reporting to the Qulliq Producer, you have great interview skills with clear news instincts and an appetite for storytelling. You have an understanding of content delivery for multiple formats and can help the team by presenting a compelling, informative show that reflects all the people of Nunavut. You personally have a sense of adventure and a love of open sky. You believe in a more modern inclusive approach to journalism and want to experiment to create a dynamic program. CBC offers access to training, mentorship and career development over time to employees along with a structured onboarding process. There are also several Employee Resource Groups at CBC. Key tasks: Host an upbeat, in depth and entertaining show for 3 hours every weekday. Write & read scripts and do live and pre-taped interviews daily. Interest in Canadian music, including Indigenous artists. Research, write and produce original story ideas for current affairs, text, social with potential for video platforms that will engage and inform the audience, deepen our community connections and connect with younger listeners. Respond quickly to breaking news events as they unfold. Deliver exclusive and engaging material regularly. Connect with the region and build relationships with news stakeholders and community leaders. Work closely with the team of producers and journalists at CBC North. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and break stories, plan features and coordinate long-term coverage. Occasionally represent CBC at events as per community requests. Can speak fluently and articulately in both English and Inuktitut. As a Host, you will bring the following skills and experience to the CBC: A desire to be behind the microphone to entertain and inform the Nunavut/Nunavik audience. A keen interest in people and possessing the skills to interview them. Strong journalistic, writing and presentation skills. Audio editing and storytelling experience. Ability to adapt to ongoing technical demands such as desktop editing, assisting with daily lineup, social media posts and knowledge of field gathering tools and applications. Strong understanding of demonstrative live storytelling techniques. Ability to pivot from daily news to breaking news during the morning show. Strong editing and proofreading skills. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to journalism. Deep knowledge of and or connection to the equity-seeking communities in Nunavut/Nunavik. Excellent general knowledge about Nunavut/Nunavik provincial and civic politics, demographics, geography, and current issues. Experience and proven ability to tell news stories in compelling and innovative ways. Ability to manage large volumes of fast-moving information. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong team player. Possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company. Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes and weekends. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
