JOB PURPOSE Organize and manage the technical and human resources of the tool shop, taking into account the schedules and activities required to meet tooling manufacturing and maintenance schedules.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and ensure compliance with the company's safety policies, as well as promptly follow up on the resolution of unsafe conditions and compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Report environmental or safety risks to your immediate supervisor.
- Ensure that the staff under your supervision operates the machinery for which they were trained in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Participate in accident/incident investigations.
- Promote environmental awareness and safety standards in accordance with established systems.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the effectiveness of the environmental management system
- Respond to audit non-conformities, and where applicable, take action to control and correct them; address the consequences, including mitigating adverse environmental impacts
- Execute the Emergency Response Plan correctly in accordance with the procedure.
- Assign activities to each position according to established schedules or work orders
- Generate daily activity reports and maintain statistical records of all programs
- Ensure that materials, tools, machinery, and equipment in the workshop are in the required condition
- Conduct manufacturing cost analyses
- Monitor progress on work in progress
- Develop improvements in the design of tools and equipment
- Monitor compliance with work schedules.
- Ensure that staff use equipment and machinery properly
- Prepare an inventory of spare parts, equipment, and tools
- Oversee the workshop's preventive maintenance program
- Compare actual time spent on jobs against estimates.
- Provide technical support for operations.
- Comply with and promote compliance with the Environmental Management System
- Actively participate in the Annual Physical Inventory.
Requirements
- Education: Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Years of experience in a similar position: 10 years.
- Experience in the maintenance and adjustment of progressive, manual, and composite dies for stamping steel, aluminum, copper, and brass; device adjustment; handling of measuring instruments; welding of tool-grade steels; and operation of machines and tools
- Knowledge of die design and clamping devices, interpretation of drawings and GD&T, heat treatments, and rolling dies and die sets.
- Other requirements: Microsoft Office
