Position Summary:
The Intramural Sports Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and supervision for the daily operations and management of a comprehensive Intramural Sports Program that offers an average of 60+ activities serving over 10,000 student participants annually at multiple on and off campus venues.
The Coordinator is responsible for personnel management, training and scheduling for an average of 60 student staff with varying levels of responsibility who work a combined 640 hours per week. This position develops and delivers multiple educational and training clinics specific to each sport activity to area student staff. The Coordinator assists the Assistant Director, Intramural Sports in the daily administration, supervision, and management of the overall program, focusing on comprehensive training, development, and leadership opportunities for student staff.
The Coordinator works collaboratively with department colleagues to facilitate event operations and logistics within the Campus Recreation Department, Division of Student Affairs, and throughout the University to benefit students. Campus Recreation is an auxiliary unit in the Division of Student Affairs. Campus Recreation provides wellness and healthy lifestyle-oriented programs, events, and services to Colorado State University students and employees via seven program areas: Student Recreation Center, Aquatics, Fitness, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Programs, and Climbing Wall. Seven service work units, Service Center, Business Office, Information Technology, Communications/Marketing, Custodial Services, Equipment Management, and Maintenance support the program service functions to provide seamless customer service to CSU students, employees, and their families. Campus Recreation facilities, programs, and services promote a sense of community, support student development through leadership and employment opportunities, and encourage the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle to a diverse University population. Essential Duties:
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate, and approve payroll for student employees by implementing employment processes that support effective staffing and skill development.
Coordinate intramural sports staff scheduling by ensuring consistent operational coverage and supervision for multiple sport offerings each academic year to ensure consistent program delivery that meets student participation needs.
Develop and deliver training and educational clinics for intramural managers and officials by providing instruction on sport rules, officiating mechanics, safety procedures, and customer service expectations.
Oversee daily program and event operations by monitoring activities during evening and weekend hours, addressing operational issues, and ensuring compliance with program policies, procedures, and risk management standards.
Manage facilities and field operations by coordinating usage, conducting inspections, and making determinations regarding playability, safety conditions, and scheduling across assigned indoor and outdoor venues.
Administer program resources and equipment by managing inventories, coordinating procurement, and ensuring proper use, storage, and maintenance of intramural sports supplies and equipment, including staffing budget development and management: $240,000.
Address participant conduct, eligibility, and policy issues by interpreting and enforcing intramural rules and departmental policies to ensure equitable participation and maintain program integrity.
Maintain current certifications in American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer, Automatic External Defibrillator, and First Aid (American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is an approved substitute).
