Specialized Experience Requirement For the GS-14 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience includes all of the following: Experience conducting complex analytical reviews using quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate organizational effectiveness, compliance with laws and regulations, internal controls, operational processes, or data accuracy, and developing recommendations to address deficiencies or risks. Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, and policy requirements, including developing or revising guidance and advising leadership on compliance, risk, and operational impacts. Experience leading or coordinating oversight activities such as serving as an audit liaison, preparing or validating materials for audits or reviews, facilitating exchanges with oversight bodies, and tracking or implementing corrective actions resulting from audit or internal control findings. Experience developing and presenting findings, recommendations, or strategies to senior leadership or external stakeholders on complex or sensitive issues, including defending analytical conclusions and influencing adoption of corrective actions or improvements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
