Midnight Shift: Sunday: 9:45 pm - 7:15 am Monday-Thursday: 11:30 pm - 7:15 am Summary of Objective: Possesses advanced knowledge to leading the day-to-day equipment setup, preventative maintenance, operation, repair and troubleshooting at a pharmaceutical packaging facility. Ensures production is executed efficiently with high quality while minimizing waste and supports continuous improvement tasks to deliver improved efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned. Set-up and operation of machinery used in the packaging of pharmaceutical products (e.g. Cartoning, Blistering and bottling equipment, inkjet coder, checkweigher, etc.). Disassembles and cleans all change parts/production room as outlined in SOP's. Responsible for the operation of the Line from a production standpoint partnering with QA, Maintenance Trades, Packagers and Line Leaders. Reads and understands packaging procedures prior to each job. Adheres to standard SOP's and job specific packaging procedures. Troubleshoots setup, equipment and facility issues and uses trigger points to escalate for support to ensure production runs are executed efficiently, with high quality and minimal waste. Performs in-process checks and inspections. Partners with the Maintenance Trades to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical problems and repairs. Performs packaging tasks associated with packaging pharmaceutical product. Assists in the orientation and training of new Packagers and Maintenance personnel on duties to be performed. Ensures that the cleanliness of packaging and maintenance areas is maintained through good housekeeping practices. Implements and supports safe work environment. Performs material replenishment on the equipment such as, but not limited to foil, film and labels. Completes tasks and handles machine tooling with extreme care. Execute preventative maintenance tasks. Reviews machine manuals to achieve optimal equipment run conditions. Fabricates change parts and bracketry as required. Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules. Identifies and tackles continuous improvement opportunities. Utilizes the CMMS for various tasks. Participates in the development and improvement of the centerline program and setup sheets. Participates and supports project execution including documentation and moving of assets. Ensures appropriate communication is relayed to other shifts. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position. This position may require overtime and/or weekend work. Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the stated position. Required: - 4-6 years hands-on technical and setup experience in the pharmaceutical or food packing industry or enrollment in an Apprenticeship program (Specifically 433A or 442A). - Strong Mathematical and analytical skills needed to complete required documentation in a thorough and accurate manner. - Manual dexterity to set up, adjust, and run equipment specific to a variety of specifications. - Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot technical and mechanical problems and perform required adjustments, ability to inspect mechanical equipment and perform preventative maintenance tasks. - Effective interpersonal skills to work in a team environment. - Knowledge and understanding of GMP processes. - Detail and quality oriented - Manual material handling of tooling, and packaging components - Ability to follow and implement directions and use tools such as microdetectors and dial calipers. - Ability to work with minimal supervision. Preferred: - Have the ability to read blueprints. - Know the basic principles of electronics and pneumatics. - Fabrication and basic TIG welding. - Know mechanics, basic drive shaft alignment, bearing replacement. - Know how to perform preventative maintenance. Visual review and oiling and greasing. The base salary hiring range for this position is ($32.23 - $36.26 CAD) , with eligibility for an annual performance bonus. The final offer will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, education, professional designations, specialized skills, and work location.
