For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/ This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, 12-month appointment, that includes both administrative and teaching responsibilities. Primary duties will include providing leadership for the implementation, administration, assessment, and continuous improvement of the BSMLS program; support programmatic accreditation activities and maintain compliance with institutional, state, and professional standards; develop, implement, assess, and revise curriculum, student learning outcomes, and program effectiveness measures; teach undergraduate Medical Laboratory Science courses and support innovative, student-centered learning environments; recruit, advise, mentor, and support students, including students from multicultural, multilingual, and first-generation backgrounds; assist with recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, mentoring, and evaluation of program faculty in collaboration with department leadership; develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations and clinical affiliates to support student learning experiences and workforce development initiatives; and coordinate student clinical education experiences and support professional preparation activities. Duties also include participating in service activities at the department, college, university, professional, and community levels; and other duties as assigned by the Chair of Health Sciences. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The selected candidate will join the TAMIU community during a period of growth and expansion in the health sciences and will provide leadership for continued implementation and growth of the BSMLS program while advancing student success, workforce development, and healthcare needs across South Texas and the border region. The BSMLS program is approval through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Required Qualifications The successful candidate must hold an earned master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution; current national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) through ASCP Board of Certification or equivalent certification; minimum of five years of professional clinical laboratory experience across multiple laboratory disciplines; minimum of three years of higher education teaching, laboratory education, clinical instruction, or academic program administration experience; demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, accreditation processes, and program administration; strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. We strongly encourage candidates with earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, DCLS, DHSc, or related discipline); experience with accreditation activities, program development, curriculum planning, or academic leadership; experience developing clinical partnerships and coordinating clinical education experiences; experience working with multicultural, multilingual, and first-generation student populations.
