WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: This dynamic Philanthropy Director will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward HNW in dividual donors and prospects from a Division perspective, with a primary focus on building new donor relationships and opening new philanthropic markets. Provide significant divisional support and expand donor financial support of the American Red Cross by developing a new pipeline of transformational individual gifts. Grow an assigned portfolio of donors, sponsors, and prospects to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals exceeding $5,000,000, with an emphasis on seven‑figure and multi‑year giving. Assist donors in creating meaning and legacy through impactful philanthropy in support of the American Red Cross mission. Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers and senior stakeholders engaged in high‑level fundraising efforts. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD This leader will design and implement Division‑level fundraising strategies focused on securing large, transformational gifts from high‑net‑worth individuals. This includes building a new donor pipeline rather than managing a fully established portfolio. Manage and develop complex individual, corporate, and/or foundation relationships, including seven‑figure gift opportunities that may cross regional or divisional boundaries. Analyze donor, prospect, and market intelligence to identify new high‑capacity individuals and philanthropic communities. Make strategic decisions regarding which individuals, families, or entities to prioritize, with a focus on donor segments where the organization currently has limited penetration. Lead Division fundraising growth initiatives by expanding capacity to identify, cultivate, and solicit high‑net‑worth donors. Provide education, technical expertise, and programmatic insight to support innovative, relationship‑driven fundraising strategies. Personally engage in the solicitation of funds from high‑level contributors. Maintain responsibility for a high‑value portfolio with a revenue target of $5,000,000+, recognizing that early success includes pipeline development, relationship building, and access creation. Provide guidance and thought leadership to development staff and key volunteers, serving as a subject‑matter expert in NNW individual philanthropy and transformational giving. Travel extensively within the Division to support donor engagement and relationship‑building. Will drive a vehicle to donor meetings and other business locations; responsible for providing own transportation for business purposes. Scope: Senior individual contributor and acknowledged expert within the organization and the broader philanthropic community. Participates in industry and knowledge reference groups and represents the organization with credibility among high‑net‑worth individuals and advisors. Demonstrates mastery of a specialized fundraising discipline with a thorough understanding of multiple related disciplines. May develop new solutions and approaches for complex, high‑impact fundraising initiatives. Regularly interfaces with executive leadership, senior volunteers, and board members. The candidate must reside within the Northeast Division , with a strong preference for individuals living in or deeply familiar in Connecticut, New York, and Northern New Jersey.
