The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and counsel on Airman and Family Readiness Center's (A&FRC) career, transition, relocation, family, and other work/life services and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members, and their families. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 0101 series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Basic Requirements Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes interviewing and assess clients' needs and concerns (e.g., family separation, parenting, personal financial management, childcare, elder care, etc.); evaluate and interpret information gathered in interviews. Assist clients in prioritizing issues and developing plans and goals that are tailored to specific needs and concerns. Provide advice, guidance, and additional referral options to ensure clients have access and assistance in securing cost-effective support or direct aid. Gather data, compile statistics and subject matter resources, and prepare reports concerning community needs and development of new support services. Maintain contacts/relationships with professional associations, agencies and others to enhance and deliver comprehensive support services. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and governing directives. Conduct marketing strategy and public relations activities designed to inform the community on various individual and/or family support services. Research and prepare articles/presentations on work/life issues/concerns. Maintain relationships with professional association, agencies, and others to enhance and deliver comprehensive services. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with study disciplines in behavioral or social sciences which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of social services delivery systems and concepts, principles, and theories relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields to assess needs and concerns of clients and help them to understand how certain behavior patterns/attitudes impact and affect their career, transition, relocation, and family situation and learn about their abilities, capacities, interests, and goals concerning their various work/life requirements. 2. Knowledge of personal financial management practices and techniques to provide clients with appropriate financial data and practical financial skills to enable them to make informed personal financial management decisions. 3.
