About the role

This is a strategic and operational leadership role where you will drive maintenance and calibration programs that directly impact manufacturing performance, capacity, and product quality. You will lead a team responsible for asset reliability, service delivery, and technical problem-solving, while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Network Optimisation teams to support growth, new technology introduction, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance and calibration strategy to maximise equipment uptime through Lean thinking and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and coach a high-performing technical team, embedding a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and capability uplift.
  • Deliver asset management and reliability programs that drive efficiency, waste reduction, and capacity growth across manufacturing.
  • Lead Maintenance & Asset Performance
  • Drive machine uptime and reliability through effective maintenance, calibration, and service programs
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting and resolution of equipment issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as Lean thinking.
  • Establish and embed effective Total Asset Management (TAM ) systems and processes
  • Deliver Operational & Strategic Programs
  • Lead and deliver programs aligned to Cochlear's manufacturing and growth strategy
  • Balance scope, quality, cost, and time constraints to ensure successful program outcomes
  • Support capacity expansion, new technology introduction, and site transformation initiatives
  • Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team
  • Build, lead, and develop a capable and engaged technical team
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular feedback aligned to Cochlear's HEAR behaviours
  • Coach and develop team capability to support current and future business needs
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and senior leadership to align priorities and outcomes
  • Build and manage complex stakeholder relationships across the organisation
  • Influence decision-making, including at executive level, to drive effective solutions
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Actively support safety initiatives, injury management, and continuous improvement of procedures
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across the team
