Responsibilities
- Determine boundary and road layout for future harvesting.
- Assess riparian features.
- Traverse boundary and road locations for map creation.
- Crossing and site plan data collection.
- Ecology type identification and stratification.
- Map and identify logging hazards.
- Complete road engineering estimates and appraisal data field survey.
- Remote camping and wilderness exploration.
- Complete timber reconnaissance and stand level timber type stratification.
- Assist timber cruiser in the field with data collection.
- Ability to complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains.
- Other duties as required.
- Experience and Knowledge Expectations:
- 1 year of Forestry-related experience.
- Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset.
- A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver's Abstract.
- Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset.
- Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.
- Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field.
- The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time.
- Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs.
- Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset.
- A safety conscious attitude.
- A love of the outdoors.
