About this roleWhat a day of a Plumber looks like:Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of plumbing issues including toilets, flush controls water heating, delivery and drainage systems, and assists with campus maintenance.Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.Cleans clogged drains and toilets and performs other plumbing repairs.Plans, administers, and takes physical inventories of equipment or material. Prepares material list to order materials and supplies to complete assigned tasks.
Meets and communicates with current or potential vendors. Coordinates with vendors and purchasing department. Monitors, evaluates and coordinates services provided by outside vendors.
Inspects and repairs equipment and machinery for safe operation. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations. Repairs faulty or damaged equipment as needed.
Responds to a variety of service order calls. Accurately logs and provides updates on service requests. Tracks and records maintenance and repair work performed.
Provides consultation and assistance regarding specific matters within area of expertise. Assists with Facilities and Building Department Permit and Plan reviews.
Maintains and performs in a safe workplace and follows established safety practices.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the position
Four years of related experience
Knowledge of:
Current plumbing codes and tools
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Safety procedures and guidelines
Skilled in:
Operating plumbing tools
Delivering a high level of customer service
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to:
Interpret blueprints and related symbols
Use a variety hand and power tools, machines and equipment
Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Regular physical attendance required
Current Plumber Journeyman license
Palm Beach County Backflow Testing and Repair certificate (must be obtained within 6 months for non-resident)
Valid Florida driver's license
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds
Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds
Reach and grasp objects
Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Stand for extended periods of time
Use of video display terminal
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
Communicate information orally and in writing
Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
Proofread and check documents for accuracy
Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury
Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions
Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens
Operate motor vehicle
Work a fluctuating work schedule
