Job Description
Onshape (www.onshape.com), a PTC SaaS business, is developing a completely new Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and design data management platform for professional mechanical designers and engineers, delivered globally as SaaS. Think SolidWorks meets GitHub meets Google Docs. Our office is in the heart of Boston's beautiful Seaport District.
PTC seeks an experienced Principal System Operations Engineer/Developer to contribute to the deployment, expansion, and monitoring of our global cloud service. You will work on our one-of-a-kind 3D collaborative CAD application with cutting-edge cloud, web, and mobile technologies with responsibilities for building, operating and scaling our global CAD and data management service. Use your Linux systems and operations skills to design and implement new automation, ensure reliable performance, and maintain security for the next generation of 3D-designed products.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated and hands-on with the ability to dig into the code and help improve our deployment infrastructure. The candidate will be integral to creating a "low touch" automated environment and work closely with teammates to implement and refine new techniques for deploying and monitoring the infrastructure. Qualified candidates should have a background in Operations, DevOps, QA, or Support.

Work to complete stories and fix bugs on a 3-week Agile style release process using a CI/CD pipeline
Review logs to debug issues with deployed, globally distributed environments
Take ownership of new solutions , ideas, assignments, action items, and issues, and drive them to completion
On-call rotation on average 1 week at a time every two months
Preferred Skills/Experience
US Citizenship or Green Card is required due to ITAR requirements.
Ability to commute to the Seaport Boston office 2-3 days a week.
10+ years in a highly technical, hands-on operations / DevOps / support / QA role
Experience with large AWS, Azure, or GCP environments is strongly recommended
Strong experience with administering and deploying on Linux systems
Experience with automated deployment and monitoring tools like Puppet and Ansible.
Experience with automated Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Cloudformation , etc
Experience with backend databases like MongoDB or Elasticsearch is a plus
Experience supporting Java applications a plus
Python or bash scripting a plus
