Collaborate with the design team to create innovative and visually appealing exterior and interior concepts for electric vehicles, with a focus on the top hat.
Partner with other concept & systems architect teams to come up with solution to engineering & functional challenges.
Liaise with the styling team to propose technical input, making design feasible.
Critically review available technical systems and propose an engineering improvement and/or customer experience.
Develop the concept architecture and vehicle integration for the upper body.
Collaborate in design & creating 3D input for a simulation environment that allows the system architecture, concepts & ideas to be put to test for other systems engineers to utilize.
Create detailed design documentation, including 2D and 3D drawings, specifications, and design guidelines for the top hat components.
Creating prototype architectures for physical and computer verification & stress testing
Location & Travel Expectations :
This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan with transition to Charlotte, NC .
This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Master's degree and significant experience is a plus)
5 + years' experience in Automotive Power Closures development or equivalent industry experience.
Understanding of product requirements and closures features to deliver world class customer experience in one or more of the following areas:
Sealing Systems - Dynamic Weatherstrips, Glass Run Systems
Power System Attributes - Closing/Opening Efforts, Closing/Opening PWM of Motors, NVH, Power spindle/Latch Acoustics, Door Speed Dynamics
Basic understanding of Power closures Calibration & ability to Root cause issues
Strong understanding of 1st principal physics of a closures system -loads, forces, and overall function of the system, and t
