The FIS Legal team is comprised of 200+ attorneys and paraprofessionals worldwide who are a part of the Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs (LCCA) group, which includes 600+ professionals who serve as advisors to and partners with our businesses. Teams within our group work collaboratively with each other and with our business colleagues to solve problems in an effective and pragmatic manner. We strive to assist our businesses in meeting their objectives with sound, reasonable and well-considered legal counsel and compliance analysis and support.
Responsibilities
Provide operational direction to the legal team, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
Provide strategic legal advice to various business stakeholders with respect to product development, go-to-market, and production support.
Provide support with Enterprise Account Managers in supporting commercial sales contracts with banks and credit unions throughout North America
Support strategic partnerships with market leading financial services providers and emerging technology partners.
Requires communication with executive leadership and various strategic stakeholders in the organization.
Acts as a thought leader within the legal team and the organization, providing insights on emerging legal trends and industry best practices.
Develops strategic goals and implements strategic initiatives in support of goals
Develops and implements new processes, standards or operational plans that will have an impact on the achievement of functional results
Significantly improves on existing processes and practices for efficiency and effectiveness
Implements the organization's intellectual property strategy, managing trademarks, patents, and copyrights, conducting rigorous due diligence related to intellectual property in complex business transactions.
Requirements
J.D. with active membership in at least one state bar.
7-10 years of relevant prior in-house experience within a financial services and/or technology company is strongly preferred. Particular emphasis will be placed on prior experience with payments, banking, and data practices.
Strong communication, research, writing, and analytical skills, including drafting of advice, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to review and evaluate multi-faceted issues and counsel business colleagues on complex legal questions relating to various regulatory issues.
Experience advising clients in a complex, diversified, global organization.
Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced business environment and driving complex projects to completion.
Confident and proactive self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice, exercise good judgement, and work well with senior management and cross functional stakeholders.
