Responsible for identifying the root causes of system failures or malfunctions by examining data, conducting investigations, and utilizing analytical techniques to pinpoint protective relay issues on the Bulk Electric System.
Technical Expertise: Exhibits journey level proficiency plus advanced knowledge of different Protection and Controls schemes, such as different line protections, transformer protections, generator, and bus protections.
Exhibits journey level understanding of Protection and Control design concepts, such as different line protections, transformer protections, generator, and bus protection. AEP specific Protection and Control designs preferred.
Ability to review oscillography and sequential event records to determine causes of operations.
Ability to troubleshoot issues with relay settings.

This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*.
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
Acceptable alternatives:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or
Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD
