  • Fine Motor Manipulation: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

This position will assist in all aspects of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning trade. Primary duties involve assisting skilled tradesmen in duties necessary to operate and maintain University HVAC systems efficiently and reliably to provide a comfortable environment in classrooms, laboratories, and offices on campus. Essential Functions: Assists in the maintenance or repair of HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, energy recovery heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and similar equipment. Lubricates and packs bearings in heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning motors, pumps, fans, and other equipment. Changes filter media, adjusts and replace belts, clean traps and strainers. Inspects machinery in operation to assure proper functioning, including checking pressures and temperatures. Assists in troubleshooting and maintenance off fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary. Responds in a timely manner to work orders and maintains related records concerning time, labor and materials; maintains log of tasks performed and writes reports as required. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair. Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service. Supports campus-wide activities in the areas of event setups, snow and ice removal, and any other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm. This position works 40 hours a week.
