About the role

Position Summary The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive Continuous Improvement Service Culture. This role will focus on eliminating waste, developing our people and interfacing with our customers to implement Continuous Improvement projects and statistical analysis. The role will lead initiatives that drive operational excellence, utilizing Lean Principles, value stream mapping, and waste reduction. Key responsibilities include: ✓ Process Optimization: Lead initiatives focused on Lean principles, value stream mapping, and waste elimination to improve operational efficiency. ✓ Training and Development: Deliver training programs to instill a Continuous Improvement mindset, ensuring people are equipped with the necessary tools and techniques. ✓ Standardization: Create Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Work Instructions, Leader Standard Work, policies and procedures. ✓ Program Management: Oversee Continuous Improvement activities, including the implementation of a Continuous Improvement Tracker to monitor progress and results. ✓ Cultural Transformation: Act as a coach and mentor to people, embedding a culture of problemsolving and innovation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety 1. Full comprehension and adherence to the Crescent Safety Playbook - Doing it Safe. 2. Assess and remove all unnecessary risk within our business. 3. Perform Job Hazard Analysis. 4. Improve plant layout and equipment to ensure we operate safely. 5. Understand ergonomic risks and develop solutions to eliminate the risks. 6. Develop safe and efficient workspaces. 7. Participate in accident investigations and develop process solutions to eliminate root cause of injuries / accidents. Quality 1. Do what is right for our customers, company, and people. 2. Identifying, analyzing and implementing continuous improvement opportunities in the quality organization. 3. Determine business and process path DPMO and sigma rating. 4. Adhere to all quality standards. 5. Ensure our customers' needs for quality are understood and built into each process. 6. Ensure root cause and problem-solving thinking is used in addressing all Quality issues. 7. Evaluate processes to ensure target conditions are met, and actions put in place when they are not met to include detailed root cause analysis and mitigation strategy. Productivity 1. Lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Develop and implement ideas for process improvement projects across all functions, manage the Continuous Improvement pipeline and savings tracker. 2. Lead customer ideation sessions for Value Creation and Continuous Improvement activities. 3. Lead continuous improvement events utilizing the Plan, Do, Learn, Do Better mentality and the DMAIC process (i.e., Value stream mapping events, kaizens, Problem solving, 3P, Flow, etc.). 4. Lead engineering projects - Capex, managing vendors, budgets and timelines. 5. Perform time studies and other analysis to understand opportunities for improvement. 6. Develop Standard Operating Procedures that define tasks necessary to accomplish the given Value Stream Map. 7. Develop Standard Work Instructions that clearly state how to perform each task identified in the various SOPs. 8. Develop Leader Standard Work necessary to ensure system and process adherence. 9. Reduce line change over and setup times. 10. Problem-Solving: Facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving workshops to address complex issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. People 1. Collaborate and help drive the Continuous Improvement Service Culture. 2. Culture: Enhance and cultivate Crescent's Continuous Improvement Service Culture Demonstrating Do it Right, Do it Safe and Do it Well. Be a Crescent Continuous Improvement Service Culture leader and involve others in IE and CI activities. 3. Lean & Six Sigma Methodologies: Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality tools to foster a culture of continuous improvement, mentor to team members to help develop their understanding of Industrial Engineering and Lean tools. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with all departments to align and integrate improvement strategies. Customer Value 1. Lead the Customer CI sessions, drive the CI pipeline and track CI projects. 2. Build and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with the site's key Customer(s). 3. When needed support new site / Customer launches. 4. Work with the sites to ensure customer contractual obligations are met. Understand all contracts and Continuous Improvement Commitments.
