This role ensures accurate and timely submission of trauma data in compliance with NTDB, TQIP, and state reporting requirements. The registrar contributes to trauma program performance improvement activities, injury research, and registry validation processes while demonstrating proficiency in trauma coding and data management. Essential Functions : Independently abstract trauma patient data from the electronic health record. (20%) Accurately code injuries using ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS). (10%) Assign and validate Injury Severity Scores (ISS). (10%) Ensure registry data completeness and accuracy for state and national submissions. (10%) Maintain monthly productivity expectations for chart abstraction. (10%) Participate in trauma program performance improvement data collection and reporting. (10%) Conduct data validation and participate in registry quality audits. (10%) Maintain knowledge of updates to the NTDB Data Dictionary and TQIP requirements. (5%) Assist with trauma registry data requests for research and injury prevention initiatives. (5%) Collaborate with Trauma Nurse Coordinators, trauma surgeons, and quality staff. (5%) Assist with orientation or mentoring of new Trauma Registrars. (5%) Education : High School Diploma or GED required Work Experience : 1-2 years of actual trauma registry or clinical data abstraction experience required AND ICD-10 Certification required Licenses : AIS-Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale - AAAM - Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Possess good computer keyboarding skills. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Knowledge of organizational structure, work flow, and operating procedures. Microsoft Office products. Ability to read and interpret clinical data from a medical record. Familiarity with ICD 10 Diagnosis and procedure coding preferred. Familiarity with Abbreviated Injury Scale/ Injury Severity Scores (AIS/ISS) preferred. Experience with computer databases preferred. Proficiency navigating electronic health records Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation Experience with trauma registry databases Shift Days (United States of America) Work Type Regular Salary $23.92 - $33.49 / hr
