About the role
The Assistant Director of Nursing, under the leadership and support of the Director of Nursing, has the responsibility of coordinating quality clinical care and services and the administration of the nursing department. The position requires both clinical and management skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the facility/department is in compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines, standards of care, job performance and competency standards.
- Responsible for the facility/unit orientation, assignment of work tasks, supervision, staffing, and training of direct reports in order to properly prepared personnel to meet resident needs
- Assures the comprehensive care plan of care is maintained in collaboration with other disciplines such as rehabilitation, social services, activities, dietary, pharmacy, consulting physicians etc.
- Participates in professional activities, in-service programs, and committee assignments to enhance personal, professional, and institutional advancement.
- Works with the Medical Director and facility physicians to ensure resident medical services are compliant.
- Responsible for follow-up, action, reporting and intervention of irregular occurrences, change in condition, response to outbreaks and other critical incidents as necessary.
- Implements facility policy and procedures designed to promote member and employee safety and reduce avoidable related injuries. Promotes employee compliance with these policies and procedures.
- Participates in the implementation of an effective and ongoing quality assurance program to evaluate and improve operations and services.
- Conducts audits and review of clinical processes and workflows routinely and as necessary.
- Collects data for clinical operations report (COR) and collaborates on analysis and action implementation to address outcomes, as necessary.
Requirements
- Education
- Associates Degree, Nursing (Required) or
- Program Graduate, RN Nursing Education Program certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
- Supervisory experience (Preferred)
- Senior Living/Long Term Care Experience (Preferred)
- Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
- BLS/CPR/AED - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
- Other Requirements Call Rotation
