The goal of this training program is to provide the trainee with strong concepts about translational control and metabolism. The trainee will study how metabolite capped RNAs are regulated by cellular metabolism. Additionally, the trainee will learn to interpret and analyze the data they generates. The trainee will present their research during our weekly group meetings, participate in weekly one-on-ones, and participate in journal club meetings. Lastly, they will become familiar with the research of other groups from the CIV Department by participating in our weekly Departmental Research in Progress talks. This will be evaluated by Jasmine Garcia, the supervisor, and the PI during our regular research meetings, in which Kyla will participate actively. - Developing the ability to present new data. The student will present their ongoing work during the group meeting of the Lee group in informal round the table conversation or in chalk talk format. All members of the lab will be encouraged to ask questions and offer suggestions. - Learning the following techniques: molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, PCR, western blotting, in vitro RNA transcription, and additional project-related assays. After an initial training, they will conduct these experiments independently, with daily guidance and input from Jasmine Garcia.
