From ideation to production, you will work with a diverse and experienced team of design engineers to support aerospace industry leaders and spearhead technological advances in transport decarbonization. Job Description The Materials Manager is responsible for end-to-end materials management strategy and performance to support production, customer delivery, and inventory integrity at an electric motor manufacturing plant serving the aerospace propulsion market. This role provides leadership and governance across production planning, purchasing, customer service, warehousing, inventory control, and site logistics execution, with functional leads reporting into the position. The Materials Manager ensures uninterrupted production flow, disciplined inventory management, and alignment with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The position works cross functionally with operations, engineering, quality, finance, and centralized corporate teams (e.g., Trade Compliance, Logistics) to anticipate material risk, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement. The individual is responsible for: Production Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain the master production plan aligned with customer demand, after market forecast, and manufacturing capacity. Balance demand, capacity, and material availability to support on‑time production and delivery. Define, maintain, and continuously improve planning parameters such as lead times, safety stock, and reorder points. Coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to support engineering changes, product launches, and recovery plans. Purchasing & Material Planning Lead material planning and purchasing activities to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components. Manage and develop Material Planners, setting priorities, objectives, and performance expectations. Ensure purchase orders are properly released, confirmed, and followed through the ERP system. Monitor supplier delivery performance and collaborate with Quality and Procurement teams on corrective actions when required. Customer Service Lead Customer Service Representatives who act as the plant's primary interface with customers regarding orders and deliveries. Ensure accurate order entry, confirmation, and shipment execution. Serve as the escalation point for customer delivery issues, demand changes, and material shortages. Support clear and timely communication with customers regarding delivery commitments, backlog, and recovery plans. Warehouse & Inventory Management Own warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, shipping, and internal material flow. Ensure high inventory accuracy through cycle counts, discrepancy analysis, and corrective actions. Maintain safe warehouse operations in accordance with EHS requirements and company policies. Lead physical inventory execution and inventory reconciliation in coordination with Finance. D rive initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory. Logistics (Site Level‑ Coordination) Coordinate inbound and outbound material movements in collaboration with centralized Logistics and Trade Compliance organizations. Ensure materials are prepared and released in compliance with applicable export control and trade requirements. Monitor site logistics for KPIs such as on-time‑ delivery, transit performance, and premium freight usage. Systems, Controls & Continuous Improvement Ensure accurate and timely transactions in SAP, maintain strong inventory controls, and master data discipline.
