As a Patient Safety and Risk Management Advisor, you will: - Coordinate and facilitate Risk Management activities, serving as a resource person to hospital staff, leadership, and medical staff, assisting in management of claims, and providing risk management support to assigned committees - Review and analyze incident reports for assigned units to determine the severity level of patient harm and facilitates referral of the reports to the appropriate team members and leaders. - Conduct background investigations of events with referral to medical malpractice insurers and regulatory agencies as indicated - Assist in Quality Assurance activities throughout WOMC as they relate to the Risk Management functions, including regulatory surveys - Coordinate/facilitate Patient Safety activities such as performing investigative and proactive activities, statistical analyses, root cause analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, to prevent and reduce risk occurrences and coordinating the creation of plans of correction. Facilitate debriefs as delegated - Provide on call support to staff and physicians during off hours with Risk and Patient Safety issues - Assist with reviewing and coordinating the resolution, response to, and tracking of patient and family complaints and grievances including referral to appropriate responders, determine type of required response, and comply with WOMC guidelines and deadlines regarding the hospital patient grievance program - Assist with educational programs for both WOMC and medical staff for recognition and prevention of malpractice, general liability, and safety issues. Qualifications include: - Bachelor's degree required - Prior experience in a hospital setting is required - Degree in Nursing preferred - Master's Degree in healthcare preferred - Experience in the field of Risk Management preferred - Current RN license with the State of Maryland preferred Work Schedule: Employment Type: Full-time Hours per Week: 40 hours a week Typical Daily Schedule: Day shift Shift Type: Day Pay Range: $63,510.88 - $92,090.78 If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
