Working closely with nursing, providers, and Information Services, the Clinical Informatics Specialist serves as a trusted clinical expert and change agent-supporting EHR optimization, Epic initiatives, system upgrades, and clinical device integration. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Primary Work Shift: Day Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: $37.00 - $55.50 per hour, depending on experience ----- Job Responsibilities: Serves as a clinical expert, resource, and liaison between the IT team and clinical operations teams. Meets with nursing preceptors and new clinical hires to promote comprehensive understanding and requirements for clinical documentation. Provides initial at the elbow support for new UHS providers and nursing/clinical staff. Assists with basic provider personalization (order favorites, view configuration, smart phrase development). Participates as the clinical lead in technical dress rehearsals and go live support for nursing staff and/ providers. Conducts clinical rounding in the inpatient setting for operational support on a routine and as needed basis. Assists clinical end-users with workflows to promote clinical efficiency, quality, user satisfaction, optimal revenue, and patient safety. Identify technical/EMR issues. Collaborates with informatics team, IT, and/or Epic analysts for resolution. Submits Cherwell tickets as needed. Participates in monitoring Epic clinical reports (including: Barcode Compliance Medication Administration, Open Encounters, Incomplete Blood Administration, Notes without charges, and Required Documentation). Participates with troubleshooting decreased compliance root cause(s) for possible resolutions and improvements. Participates in improving clinical efficiencies through workflow assessments, monitoring and drill down of appropriate system reports. Participates as a resource during regulatory visits as requested. Collaborates with IT, Epic analysts, and informatics team for problem-solving non-compliant clinical issues. Participates in identifying IT/EMR root cause(s) and improvement plans for clinically related patient safety events. Participates in IT technical and Epic application team/focus groups. Participates in Epic application testing as a clinical expert for optimal workflows and regulatory compliance. Evaluates current and emerging technologies as the clinical expert to ensure strategy implementation promotes viable cost, safety, and quality patient outcomes. Participates in prioritizing planned Epic optimizations as a clinical expert. Participates in operational workgroups/committees (including: advisories, quality/safety, clinical education, and emergency management). Participates in new clinical device testing and implementation. Establishes collaborative relationships with other members of the health care team for effective and efficient interdisciplinary care. Collaborates with informatics team for clinical rounding findings, team strategies and goals. Position Qualifications: Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing or relevant clinical field. Five years of clinical experience in the inpatient or ambulatory care setting. One Epic certification within one year of hire. Preferred: Master's degree in clinical informatics.
