About the role
Reporting to the Director, Development, the Community Giving Officer is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive community giving and engagement program that integrates annual giving, alumni relations, and broader community partnerships. The Community Giving Officer will: Build and maintain strong relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners; Develop and execute engagement strategies to increase participation in giving programs and strengthen community connections; Support the development and execution of annual and community giving strategies across multiple channels (digital, email, direct mail, phone, and campaigns); Support the planning and execution of key initiatives and contribute to proposal development and funding applications; Collaborate with internal teams and potential external partners to deliver effective and scalable fundraising programs; Manage and grow a portfolio of entry- to mid-level donors, soliciting gifts and increasing philanthropic support; Deliver meaningful stewardship, including donor recognition, impact reporting, and ongoing engagement; Identify opportunities to transition donors to major or leadership giving portfolios in collaboration with Development colleagues; Analyze donor trends, campaign performance, and engagement metrics to inform strategy; Identify and implement improvements to enhance program effectiveness, donor experience, and operational efficiency. Please note this position may be required to attend events and meetings outside of regular business hours to support operational needs Key Skills and Experience: Undergraduate degree in a related field/discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered; A valid G class driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract; Experience growing a fundraising program and in an annual fund environment; Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge NXT and solid computer competency including (but not limited to) word processing, Excel, spreadsheets, Outlook, web applications, internet search engines and reporting tools; Applied working knowledge of a call centre environment, strategies for giving and operational needs; Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices associated with annual giving fundraising in higher education; Knowledge of statistics, including qualitative and quantitative data analysis, predictive analytics, research methods and trend analysis; Knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g. FIPPA, Canada Revenue Agency, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation) and confidentiality requirements; Knowledge and understanding of fundraising in a post-secondary environment; Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community; Strong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships; Demonstrated creativity and the abili
