Constant evaluation of appearance, chemical, physical, and sanitary integrity of all products produced at the facility
Routine evaluation of CCP's, packaging integrity and compliance to regulatory guidelines
Isolation, segregation, and inspection of materials deemed to be non-compliant regarding established specification
Both routine and non-routine collection of test data, sending and receiving analytical samples and results as well as process problem solving and troubleshooting
Packaging Quality Operator at Mars
Technicians must honestly, neatly, and completely document their observations so informed decisions regarding quality can be made
Scan, collect and submit finished product samples for testing.
Associate is responsible for communicating and escalating any quality and food safety concerns to site management.
Keep laboratory equipment clean and in proper working order unless repairs are beyond their capacity
Other similar duties as assigned by supervisor.
Ability to perform packing line operator roles.
Additional Responsibilities:
May have to perform special non-routine tasks associated with corporate requests, projects, and tests
Support plant management in a like manner regarding non-routine assignments such as supply inventory and hold inspections
Assist with providing breaks to operators throughout the shift.
Participate in site "Continuous Improvement" groups as appropriate.
Train other area associates in operation of all areas and systems, including safety, quality, and strategy
Participate in site safety program and actively look for ways to improve site and area safety.
Other similar duties as assigned.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
Must not be afraid of heights and capable of working at elevated heights
Must not be unusually sensitive to chemicals
Vision correctable to 20/20 (contact lenses not recommended).
Must be able to stand on your feet on a concrete floor for long periods of time.
Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting to 55 lbs.
Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision
Requirements
Be 18 years of age or older
Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
Basic knowledge of personal computers through demonstrated competency in software including MS Office and email
Must be willing and able to work rotating schedules.
Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
High Level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge, with good skills in troubleshooting and problem solving
Most recent Performance appraisal with a minimum of "Meets" expectations and not more than 1 year old.
No active disciplinary notices.
Acceptable attendance (less than 5 incidents and no discipline above an Initial Warning)

Job Description:
The Packaging Quality Operator monitors, reviews and inspects end of shift paperwork and finished product to ensure compliance to company procedures in packaging. This position requires the knowledge and skills to manage the flow of finished kibble efficiently and safely through the packaging, palletizing and warehouse areas into high quality finished product in the proper packaging and according to schedule and is responsible for training other Packaging Quality Operators.
