Position Purpose:
The Facilities Maintenance Tech is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and general upkeep of RFTA facilities and capital assets, ensuring they remain in optimal condition. This position supports the Facilities Management team by performing maintenance on various properties, including bus maintenance facilities, Rubey Park, bus stops, employee housing, office buildings, and other locations as directed by the supervisor. The Facilities Maintenance Tech fosters strong working relationships with other departments and operates both autonomously and collaboratively, making sound decisions in line with departmental needs.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe, professional manner, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Maintain facilities and equipment to meet safety standards and ensure they remain in proper working condition.
Conduct periodic safety inspections, participate in training, and follow all safety rules and regulations.
Operate vehicles in strict compliance with RFTA policies and procedures, as well as federal and state traffic laws.
Utilize the organization's Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to monitor and maintain RFTA facilities, including preventive maintenance, ordering parts, and performing general repairs (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fueling systems, garage doors, and fluids management).
Regularly clean, paint, and maintain various facilities as needed.
Perform grounds maintenance duties such as lawn mowing, snow, and ice removal.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment as required.
Provide general cleaning services, including maintaining restrooms, refilling dispensers, cleaning office spaces, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and managing garbage removal.
Control, contain, and regularly clean up hazardous materials.
Provide direction or assistance to custodial staff in the absence of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Be available to work at any location, provide vacation/sick coverage for all facilities, and serve on-call 24/7/365.
Assist with snowplowing duties as needed.
Adhere to policies, procedures, and conduct standards, maintaining professionalism in the workplace.
Notify supervisors of any issues related to employees, equipment, or performance.
Actively improve professional knowledge and skills by participating in relevant training and seminars.
Participate in routine safety meetings and training sessions to maintain and enhance job competencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to adhere to departmental and organizational goals and performance standards.
Basic computer and data entry skills.
Strong teamwork and adherence to the RFTA Code of Conduct.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to diagnose issues related to equipment and facilities.
Ability to read and understand safety documents, product labels, and emergency procedures.
Basic knowledge of safe material handling and routine maintenance practices.
Proficiency in safely operating equipment associated with facilities and grounds.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor.
Knowledge of construction, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical methods.
Mechanical aptitude for operating equipment associated with facilities and grounds.
Strong communication and writing skills in English.
Basic Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Valid Colorado Driver's License required.
