Education: Bachelor's degree in physical therapy or occupational therapy from an accredited university-based program (Masters preferred), or Graduate degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited university-based speech/language pathology program.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission or
Current License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners or
Current license to practice speech/language pathology by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for Texas, and Current certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Current Certification in Basic Life Support.
A physical therapist practicing direct access:
Education: Doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program, OR Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis
Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Five (5) years clinical experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Viewed as an "expert and leader" within chosen discipline.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Collaborates with other disciplines to develop and coordinate facility level Physical Therapy (PT) education plans.
Acts as an educational resource at the service level and for core hospital activities. Assesses plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational needs that are appropriate to the target population including high risk low frequency activities.
Develops, coordinates, and implements educational courses for internal/external customers that promote the facility as a center of excellence.
Works independently to develop curriculum for identified learning needs. Coordinates learning plans at the facility level.
Promotes team approach to healthcare delivery. Partners with other departments in training initiatives. Facilitates effective patient education at the service level. Evaluates effectiveness of patient education.
Acts as a clinical resource for staff. Communicates effectively with all levels of the healthcare team.
Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

Job Summary
This grant funded position is part of the Health Education and Learning High School (HEAL) High School program and joint partnership between Memorial Hermann and Aldine ISD. The HEAL high school is a healthcare focused, career-technical education (CTE) high school comprised of targeted learning pathways such as nursing, rehabilitation (PT/OT), pharmacy, imaging, and non-clinical administration. The Memorial Hermann positions associated with this program will work directly with the high school students, Aldine ISD administrators, and Memorial Hermann staff/leaders to build upon the traditional high school and CTE learning with work-based learning, guest school-based lecturers, and simulation experiences to prepare students for promising healthcare careers.
Responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering educational programs, orientation activities, and pathway-specific curriculum for HEAL students.
