Physical Requirements- Incumbent must be able to stoop, reach, kneel, crouch in confined spaces, and maintain intense concentration for long periods of time under most adverse conditions, such as repairing, installing or adjusting electronic equipment in patient rooms. Must climb short distances in inclement weather in order to maintain and restore to service numerous antenna systems. Acceptable hearing, visual acuity/accuracy, field of vision, and color perception are required for working on micro circuitry. Moderate lifting is necessary. Heavy lifting (over 40 lbs.) will be accomplished by obtaining assistance as needed. Circuit repairs require adequate eyesight and dexterity for working on high-component-density boards. Working Conditions: Incumbent is frequently called up to work in patient rooms, intensive care units, laboratories, rooftops, antennas, basements, etc. Work may be performed on possibly infectious and radioactively contaminated equipment or areas. Standard infection control procedures and precautions are required to safely operate within the work environment. All work is performed at SFVAMC.
