Operates horizontal directional drill in accordance with blueprints and designated plans.
Operates directional drill locating equipment.
Operates Hydro Vac equipment.
Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.
Performs simple maintenance on drilling equipment including but not limited to vice jaw changes, sub saver installation, etc.
Assists with construction clean-up as necessary.
Drives truck with trailer attached, hauling directional drill or associated equipment to the work site as directed.
Operates backhoe, trencher, mini excavator, digger/derrick truck, large system boom trucks (with a crew), hydro vac and trailer and associated equipment when needed.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma Preferred
Other Line or Gas School graduate Preferred
Required Experience
Horizontal directional drill experience
Read and understand blueprints
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in standard and high-risk areas
Previous experience in underground installation and handling of fiber, electric and gas utilities
Underground utility and/or cable work - 1 year
Tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain within 3 months of accepting position
Other Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be willing to travel.
Requires Class A commercial driver's license
This classification shall be required to hold a CDL and may operate vehicles that require the possession of a CDL (company policy regarding CDL applies to this classification).
This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations (Part 382).

Basic knowledge of First Aid and CPR
Will be required to work irregular hours during storm emergencies and as needed
Multitask and efficiently oversee multiple projects
Proficient with email, ARC FM and other computer programs necessary to perform the work
GPS logging to include downloading route information from locate equipment and planning routes

$43.11 - $48.32

Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring all directional boring plans and procedures are installed according to company specifications and design. Responsible for the proper bore path and depths of installed equipment, proper completion of required paperwork, providing assistance where necessary, maintaining and ensuring efficiency and safety on each job site, and may also require checking in on locates that have been called in before a job is started. Additional responsibilities may also include driving and operating digger/derrick truck and operating all associated power equipment; serving as Groundsman for line crews.
