Job Category: University Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Court Liaison Job Summary: The UW-Madison Police Department is hiring a Court Services Liaison. The Court Services Liaison, under the general supervision of the Investigative Services Sergeant, provides administrative support, preparation, and coordination with sworn officers of court documentation and records. Primary responsibilities include providing court-related services to the general public, attorneys, and other government agencies. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of court practices and procedures as it relates to diverse cases and performs a wide variety of responsible and complex legal clerical duties necessary to judicial administration and related work as required. UW-Madison Police Department employees will support the department's vision and mission by operating in a fair, unbiased manner which respects the rights, safety and dignity of all individuals. Department employees are expected to work in partnership with the campus and area communities to provide leadership in solving community problems, preventing crime and providing a safe environment to fulfill the mission of the University. This position will be required to work special events or assignments as designated by the Department. This position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. This position will be required to appear in court as needed. The general hours will be business hours Monday - Friday. Occasional work beyond or outside hours agreed upon may be required during critical time periods related to various cases. The final work schedule will be discussed and agreed up on with the Captain of Investigative Services. Key Job Responsibilities: Required to work special events or assignments as designated by the Department. Maintains, reviews, and validates citations through the automated system Completes criminal intake process for all cases sent to the District Attorney for prosecution and tracks progress of case throughout the system Creates and maintains a daily court schedule of cases and distributes court schedules to line level police officers and detectives Upholds high integrity, professional, and ethical standards Reviews and prepares police reports, evidentiary items, photographs, and other physical evidence and documentation Assists records and management staff in fulfilling open records requests related to law enforcement calls for service and reports and other records related issues Department: UW-Madison Police Department
