Job Title: Certified Youth Ski School Instructor Job Status: Seasonal Compensation and Benefits: Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $21.00 to $27.00+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience. Seasonal positions to begin in December and end mid-April. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Must have at least one season of teaching experience. This position will be primarily working with our youth students; ages 3-17 years. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Ski and Ride School Instructor will ensure the best possible experience for the Copper Mountain guest, working on an individual basis and as a part of the overall of the mission of the resort. Instructors will lead group classes while focusing on individual engagement and progression. The instructor faces key challenges on creating guest loyalty through great experiences in a short time frame. The instructor will successfully instill confidence in teaching skiing ability to our guests. Provide an unsurpassed mountain vacation experience every day. Performance Objectives: Develops a rapport with students quickly, establishing a connection with the students. Learning names, welcoming new students with warmth. The lesson starts before the lesson starts. Has a serious focus on safety and whereabouts of all students. Weaves safety culture into teaching: Safety is a habit, not a lecture. Asking students safety questions rather than stating rules. Uses terrain to produce safe movement. Identifies different learning styles among students and can effectively demonstrate different teaching styles to reflect them. Understands what the beginner ski progressions are for different age levels of students and can demonstrate them to the class. Additionally, the instructor will be able to identify ability level in students and split them into groups by ability level when needed. Engages the class 100% of the time, while simultaneously focusing on individual and unique student needs. Reads when a plan isn't working and changes course without making it a big deal. Models the values, philosophy, and mission statement of Copper Mountain Resort; Inspire every human being with cool experiences in awesome places. Acts as a real team member, cooperating with all employees, including fellow SRS instructors, supervisors, and employees from all other departments. When working with children: Supervising children in class always; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardian. Assisting in operational responsibilities of Ski & Ride programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
