Operate screw machines and related equipment as needed to support production requirements
Assist with setups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and minor machine adjustments
Monitor machine performance, part quality, and cycle times during production runs
Step in to cover absenteeism, training, or throughput gaps as required
Daily Leadership & Coordination
Act as the day‑to‑day leader for the machine area, directing work and setting daily priorities
Assign jobs and balance workloads based on staffing, machine availability, and schedule requirements
Serve as the first point of escalation for production, quality, safety, and personnel issues
Communicate production status, constraints, and needs to the Production Manager
Safety & Quality
Promote and enforce safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Conduct informal safety checks and address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately
Ensure parts produced meet quality standards and specifications
Support containment and corrective actions for quality issues in collaboration with Quality and Engineering teams
Operator Support & Development
Provide on‑the‑job coaching and training to Screw Machine Operators
Support onboarding and cross‑training of new and existing operators
Reinforce standard work, quality expectations, and productivity goals
Escalate performance, attendance, or conduct issues to the Production Manager as needed
Maintain a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment
Lean & Continuous Improvement
Support implementation and sustainment of 5S, Standard Work, and Lean practices in the machine area
Identify and suggest opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction
Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, Kaizen events, and daily management routines
Help maintain visual management boards and support shift‑level communication
Administrative Support
Assist with timekeeping, shift coverage, and attendance tracking
Participate in daily shift handoffs and communication between shifts
Provide input to the Production Manager on staffing, training needs, and capacity constraints
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Minimum 5 years of experience operating screw machines or similar machining equipment
Prior experience in a lead, trainer, or informal supervisory role
Strong hands‑on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Working knowledge of: Machine safety requirements
Quality inspection basics
Lean manufacturing and 5S concepts
Ability to lead peers while remaining actively involved in production
Strong communication skills and shop‑floor presence
Preferred
Experience in a screw machine or precision machining environment
Prior experience supporting setups and changeovers
Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems
Basic computer skills (timekeeping, reports, or shop‑floor systems)
Experience participating in continuous improvement initiatives

The Working Manufacturing Coordinator - Machining reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for leading the day‑to‑day operations of the machine area while actively performing production work .
This role serves as the primary point of contact on the shop floor, ensuring machines are running safely, production targets are met, and operators are supported through direct leadership and hands‑on involvement.
The Working Coordinator splits time between operating and supporting machines and coordinating daily activities , providing real‑time problem solving, mentorship, and direction to Screw Machine Operators.
This is an hourly non-exempt role, Pay Rate Range from $29 to $36 depending on level of experience.
