About the role
You will serve as a LOFTER in the STRUCTURAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT: *Analyzes engineering drawings and other technical data to determine the feasibility of manufacturing structural parts using Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) or traditional lofting methods. *Works from blueprints, Point data files, tables of offsets, and drawings, the incumbent lays out full sized ship components and structure *Measures and marks the intersections, curvature of lines and various auxiliary views. *Transmits any measurement errors discovered by plan disagreements to design department. *Cuts wood pieces for templates with various identifying data and other data such as number of pieces to be fabricated, material type and weight, installation location, and nature of shaping required.
