The Interventional Radiology (IR) Department at OU Medical Center provides advanced, minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using image-guided techniques. Our highly specialized team of board-certified interventional radiologists, nurses, and technologists delivers patient-centered care across a wide spectrum of conditions, including neuro and vascular disease, oncology, trauma, and complex organ disorders.

The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline.
Essential Responsibilities

Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management.
Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care.
Assists in preparing patients for procedures and providing comfort.
Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures
Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
Assists with quality assurance, audits and performance improvement tasks as requested.
Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.
