Trinity University invites applications for a one-year term appointment in mathematics at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics, to begin in Fall 2026. A Ph.D. in mathematics by the time of appointment is required. The primary qualification is excellence in teaching; engagement in scholarly activity is also desirable. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester. This position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
BACKGROUND

The Department of Mathematics is one of eight departments in the D. R. Semmes School of Science, endowed with a gift of $26 million that in part supports student research and faculty development. The D. R. Semmes School of Science is housed in the Center for the Sciences and Innovation , an innovative and collaborative hub for interdisciplinary research and teaching.
The Department of Mathematics includes eleven faculty members engaged in pure and applied mathematics and supports interdisciplinary programs across the institution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach up to six courses per academic year in the Mathematics Department
Advise and mentor undergraduate students
Provide regular office hours in accordance with standard university practice
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
APPOINTMENT DETAILS
This position will be a 9-month appointment (9 or 12 month disbursement) starting August 2026. The appointment carries the possibility of renewal for a second year.
