About the role
The Calibration Technician role is a key support function of the Quality Department and the plant. This position leads the IM&TE (inspection, measuring, and test equipment) calibration activity and is responsible for ensuring that all devices remain calibrated and in good use. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (necessary competencies): Duties include but are not limited to: Provide measuring and monitoring support to commercial and aerospace / defense manufacturing teams, engineering teams, quality teams, and others as needed. Perform gage calibration on various IM&TE devices throughout the plant. Coordinate calibration activities with outside service providers. Maintain accurate gage calibration records. Review and maintain appropriate procedures related to gage calibration processes. Assist team members performing quality testing on manufactured items. Identify opportunities for improvement in manufacturing and assembly processes. Inspect stock and sort parts when needed. Assist with First Article Inspection (FAI) measurements. Support internal and external quality system audits. Work collaboratively with all plant personnel to review issues and drive solutions. QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES: Experience working in a manufacturing environment (ISO 9001 or AS 9100 preferred) Working knowledge of Blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing Demonstrated knowledge of gaging and measurement techniques Effective proficiency in MS Office applications Experience with organizing and utilizing databases for high volume information is a plus Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrated ability to successfully handle new responsibilities EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE CREDENTIALS: High School diploma preferred 5 years of manufacturing experience preferred Of the 5 years manufacturing experience 2 years quality experience preferred KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS: The plant monitors several key metrics to meet customer and company satisfaction. All departments have safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics that align with company goals. The Gage Calibration Technician will have specific metrics related to IM&TE activities.
