About the role
Own and guide the connector validation domain for new product development, change validation, and field issue replication. Define validation plan aligned with product safety, customer specifications, and industry standards. Design, execute, and optimize validation programs that include: Mechanical tests : Durability, retention force, insertion/extraction force, wear analysis, mating cycles. Electrical tests : Contact resistance, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand voltage, signal integrity. Environmental tests : Thermal shock, humidity, corrosion (salt spray), vibration, dust/water ingress (IP ratings), etc. Drive root cause analysis and field failure investigation for validation failures using tools such as SEM, micro-sectioning, FEA correlation, etc. Define and manage internal test lab capabilities , equipment selection, and advanced measurement systems. Mentor junior engineers and validation teams across global sites; act as a technical coach. Lead cross-functional design reviews and support the implementation of Design for Reliability (DfR) principles. Author and enforce robust testing protocols, validation plans (DVP&R), and lab SOPs . Serve as technical liaison with customers, certification bodies, and external testing labs. Evaluate, interpret, and implement updates to testing standards (USCAR, IEC, ISO, JOEM) Contribute to standardization efforts, best practice guides, and global validation process improvements . Develop and deploy modular and scalable validation frameworks covering mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing of connector systems. Key Competencies & Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of connector technologies, design failure modes, and reliability risks. Deep understanding of global testing standards(USCAR, IEC, ISO, JOEM), etc. Advanced analytical and diagnostic skills (FMEA, 8D, RCA, Fish bone, etc.). Experience with lab management, test automation systems (LabVIEW/TestStand), and environmental chambers. Proven leadership in cross-functional and cross-regional engineering teams. Strong documentation, report writing, and customer-facing communication skills. Ability to manage multiple validation projects under tight timelines. Experience on theoretical calculations related to connector testings. Ability to interact with Cross functional teams Problem solving & analytical capabilities Excellent stakeholder management, influencing skills, and business acumen. Preferred skills: Work experience in connector industry / automotive domain is added advantage Exposure to plastic injection molding tooling, sheet metal (forming, stamping) tools, connector assembly tools Knowledge on Electrical Vehicles High Voltage connector is added advantage Experience/participation in DRBFM/focus matrix and FMEA for connector Knowledge in project management tools like MS project & other MS office tools. Added Advantage: Strong background in automotive, aerospace, rail, medical, or industrial automation sectors. Experience in accredited test labs or leading product validation organizations is a plus.
