What You'll Do Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Journeyperson Electrician, Quality Control is responsible for providing quality leadership and technical expertise to the Projects Group. This role ensures that all inspection and testing requirements are completed in accordance with applicable regulatory standards, customer specifications, and project requirements. The Journeyperson Electrician, Quality Control is also responsible for promoting and maintaining compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring established quality processes and procedures are consistently followed across construction sites and customer projects. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: Responsible for performing all aspects of inspection and audit activities with minimum supervision Implement Quality Control Systems and processes Review and understand Contracts, Scopes of work and Engineered drawings Perform surveillance monitoring of project quality and ensure that requirements of quality are being followed Interact with client representative and project team to resolve quality related issues Interact with the customers QC inspectors for the resolution of site problems Assist in non-conformance and corrective action investigation and reporting Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high-voltage electrical systems and equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, switchgear, instrument transformers, and relays (13.8 kV to 500 kV). Install structural steel and buried utilities as required for substation construction. Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, manlifts, and telehandlers (zoom booms). Lead the installation and planning of ground grids, power system equipment assembly, cabling, and wiring. Perform and oversee inspection and testing of substation electrical equipment; ensure all test and maintenance documentation is accurate and up to date. Conduct substation equipment maintenance in accordance with company and industry standards. Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and training to Electrician Apprentices, supporting safe and high-quality work practices. Promote and maintain compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations, including safe work practices near energized equipment. Ensure adherence to Rising Edge Technologies Ltd.'s Health and Safety Manual and all applicable safety legislation. Additional Information This position is designated as safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks. Schedule Schedule rotations range from 4 days on / 3 days off or 8 days on / 6 days off, or 6 days on/ 1 day off Standard workdays are 10 hours (7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week Out-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent) What We're Looking For Valid, recognized Journeyperson Electrician Certification. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrician, including at least 2 years of experience in substation environments. Strong understanding of substation construction, commissioning, testing, and quality control practices. Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Utility Code (E.U.C.), Safety Codes Act, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications. Experience performing inspections, quality audits, and documentation reviews within utility or industrial projects. Strong organizational skills with experience managing project documentation and quality records; project document management experience is considered an asset. Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and utility infrastructure is considered an asset.
