Assists with and monitors construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, comprehends, and checks for compliance with applicable contract documents.
Performs or observes on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc. and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Reviews contractor's daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark-ups, documents project progress using video and photos.
Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
Performs office engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years relevant experience, or
Master's degree in Engineering and 1 year relevant experience, or
Doctorate degree in Engineering.
Identifies complex discrepancies or conflicts within documents and evaluating the quality of work performed by using inspection checklists.
Performs increasingly complex calculations, develops plots and graphs using Excel, and drafts detailed reports for project reporting to the client with guidance from more experienced staff.
Performs basic shop drawing and submittal review and evaluates the contractor's CPM schedule.
What We Prefer:
Engineer in Training (EIT), or American Concrete Institute (ACI).
Trained in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite or similar preferred.
OSHA 30, Utah SWPPP Inspector, ACI Field Testing Technician, or Registered Stormwater Inspector I certification.
Experience inspecting aviation/airfield civil construction in accordance with FAA specifications and including runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated paving, grading, drainage, and utility work.
