Job Title Analytical Chemistry Specialist Location(s) GSK (Collegeville) - Customer Site PA Job Description Responsible for performing scientific services and working with laboratory instruments in scientific laboratories. Works on-site at clients' locations for a wide variety of low- to high-end laboratory equipment. Provides a level of support, responsiveness, and knowledge to the customized specifications of the clients' users. Runs key experiments to keep labs moving forward, while typically using the clients' lab processes and space to ensure seamless delivery of desired quality and timelines for research projects. May manage scientific services engagements at clients' sites. Position Title: Analytical Chemistry Specialist Location: Upper Providence, PA Job Summary The qualified candidate will take an active role in supporting drug development by applying a variety of analytical methodologies to support physical and chemical characterization of drug substances (including raw materials and intermediates) and drug products. Working knowledge and ability to operate analytical (e.g., HPLC-MS, GC-MS, spectroscopy) and physical (e.g., particle size, dissolution) techniques used for the characterization of pharmaceutical substances and products is desired. Job Responsibilities - Performing laboratory work in support of analytical testing of pharmaceutical projects with some experience in any of the following analytical methodologies: preparative and/or analytical chromatography, KF, particle size, dissolution, or mass spectrometry. - Job responsibilities may include analytical method development and validation; stability and release testing; testing to support pharmaceutical development efforts; documentation of experimental results; direct interaction with project team members including presentation of data; critical review of data; preparation of technical reports; and evaluation of new instrumentation or analytical techniques. - The individual should also be proficient with a wide-variety of software and information systems. - The ability to troubleshoot and maintain analytical equipment is an important skill as the role may doubly serve as a frontline specialist - The colleague must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team and thrive in a fast-paced environment. - Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required. Education/Experience/Qualifications - BA/BS Chemistry or related field - Minimum of 6 months relevant experience either in a GMP lab environment, or an academic or industrial research lab. - Ability to meet project milestones under general supervision, manage expectations for specific projects, ensure delivery of technology/transfer/submission-ready technology, data and documents. - Experience in problem-solving skills and instrument trouble-shooting. - Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, especially adherence to laboratory notebook practices. - Experience with a wide-variety of software and information systems (e.g. electronic lab notebooks, Empower and LIMS). Physical Demands - The overall physical exertion of this position requires: - Sit or stand 2-3 hours in laboratory areas. - Walk 2-3 hours within a facility. - Reach above/below the shoulder, bend at the knees and waist. - Lift up to 25 lbs. - Office work activities, including keyboard, with fingers/hands/arms up to 4 hours. - Work around moving laboratory equipment and machinery. - Use of personal protective equipment in laboratory. - Work with biohazards such as blood borne pathogens.
