The Principal Electronic Design Engineer is a senior-level role responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of advanced electronic systems and components. This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, ensuring technical excellence, and mentoring junior team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electronic design, a deep understanding of industry standards, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality products that meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements. Job Details: Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: System Architecture: Define and architect the overall electronic system architecture, ensuring it meets performance, cost, power, and reliability requirements. Circuit Design & Development: Lead the design, simulation, and analysis of complex analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuits Full technical responsibility for electronic and electrical engineering to fulfil the requirements through design, component selection, prototype, testing and full documentation stages Take ownership of the Design and keep the business updated on progress. Oversee the management of suppliers from engineering specification through to delivery of parts for evaluation, prototyping and production. To assess the validity of the various design and manufacturing proposals - for maximum cost effectiveness on the project Present technical findings and project updates to senior management, stakeholders, and clients Assist with the preparation of presentations and proposals to customers Actively participate in design reviews, offering constructive feedback and sharing best practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development Review and approve technical designs, documentation, and reports to maintain high standards of quality Tackle complex and ambiguous technical challenges, driving innovative solutions and making critical design decisions Identify opportunities for process improvements in the electronic design workflow and contribute to their implementation Work closely with software engineers, mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management teams to ensure successful product development and delivery Comply with Cubic's values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them Minimum Job Requirements: Required Education and Experience: B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech Degree in Electronics Engineering or similar relevant subject or equivalent supported by extensive relevant design experience Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in electronic hardware design and development Proven experience taking multiple complex electronic products from concept through high-volume production Expert proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor) Extensive hands-on experience with lab equipment for prototyping, debugging, and validation Familiarity with India based PCB houses, test lab facilities and experience of working with India based prototyping suppliers Required Skills and Knowledge Skills/Experience/Knowledge: Deep Technical Expertise: Mastery in one or more specialized areas such as: High-speed digital design (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SERDES) Switching power supply design (AC/DC, DC/DC) Battery charging and discharging circuits RF/Wireless circuit design (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular) 3G/4G/5G Cellular Communications USB design experience Strong understanding of mixed-signal design principles and challenges. Proficiency with industry-standard Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools for schematic capture and simulation (e.g., Altium Designer, PSpice, HyperLynx), and PCB layout. Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers, etc.). Familiarity with firmware/embedded software development principles and debugging Knowledge of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis and mitigation techniques Understanding of thermal management principles for electronic components. Experience with Design for EMC, Manufacturing and Harsh Environments Knowledge of Low Voltage Directive Preparation of design and test specifications Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards e.g., FCC, CE, UKCA, RCM , UL Knowledge of track
