Additional Information
Amazon Web Services' Hardware Engineering team is looking for experienced professionals to help build the world's premier cloud computing platform. We are looking for Industrial Engineers who are capable of operating in a fast-paced, ever-changing, multi-platform international manufacturing and production environment. Our Industrial Engineering team works closely with our ODMs, CMs, internal AWS hardware and software development teams, and with upstream component vendors to design and optimize the physical production floor to maximize throughput, minimize waste and balance workloads across stations. This role requires the engineer to be a technical contact and take on full ownership of the manufacturing process across an entire family of products. You will own layout drawings, material flow paths, line balance charts, standard work documentation and site-to-site benchmarking.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities
Take ownership of the process for an entire family of server/rack products.
Design and optimize the physical production floor to maximize throughput, minimize waste, and balance workloads across stations.
Perform time/motion studies, line balancing, material flow, workstation ergonomics, capacity modeling and value stream mapping.
Identify bottlenecks in process and propose solutions to hit capacity needs
Conduct benchmarking across multiple sites world wide looking at throughput per square floor and labor productivity.
Support global operations through regular domestic and international travel (25-50% of time)
