What you will do as a HSE Advisor:
Provide professional HSE advice and support to managers, supervisors and employees across the business including, manufacturing, engineering and support functions.
Support the effective implementation and maintenance of the ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, safe systems of work (SSOW) and tool box talks (TBT) for all work activities across the LHUK estate
Conduct workplace inspections, audits and compliance monitoring activities to verify adherence to company standards and legal requirements.
Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and environmental events, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Monitor compliance with relevant UK legislation and company procedures relating to health, safety and environmental management.
Support compliance activities associated with machinery safety, PUWER, LOLER, working at height, contractor management, permit-to-work systems and workplace transport.
Assist in environmental compliance activities including waste management, spill prevention, pollution control and environmental reporting.
Participate in internal and external audits and support regulatory inspections.
Maintain HSE records, documentation, KPI data and performance reports.
Deliver or support HSE training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the delivery of HSE improvement plans and objectives.
Promote positive behaviours and actively support the development of a strong safety culture throughout the business.
Support emergency preparedness arrangements, drills and response activities as required.
Requirements
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised Health and Safety qualification.
Demonstrable 2 years' experience within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, defence, or other high-risk operational environment.
Sound knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and its practical application within a manufacturing setting.
Working knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Competent in developing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
Understanding of key manufacturing safety requirements including machinery safety, PUWER, LOLER, working at height, contractor management, permit-to-work systems and workplace transport risks.
Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
Ability to challenge unsafe behaviours and practices in a constructive and professional manner.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Salary Range: £44,000 to £46,000
Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
