Performs intubation of patients independently.
Monitors and adjusts ventilator under the supervision of physician.
Administers nitric oxide therapy to patients in active labor under the supervision of a physician, if applicable.
Promotes and provides a safe and effective respiratory care to patients.
Performs patient assessment and develops an appropriate plan of care according to hospital policy and protocols.
Performs routine respiratory care procedures as appropriate for assigned areas according to hospital policy or protocols.
Performs charting and documentation that is consistently complete, accurate, legible and informative.
Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant others concerning respiratory therapy.
Responds to emergency situations and provides appropriate and timely treatments.
Assists physicians with specialized care (e.g. bronchoscopy, trans-tracheal oxygenation).
Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assessment activities and interdisciplinary teams as appropriate.
Complies with policies; uses discretion and follows through with areas of concern.
Participates in activities resulting in professional and departmental growth; attends continuing education programs to promote professional growth and maintains licensure in a timely manner.
Maintains a high productivity level.
Completes tasks in allotted time at the end of each shift.
Acts in a temporary capacity as team leader, if applicable.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:
Required: Graduate from an associate degree Respiratory Therapy training program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Allied Health Professions (CAAHEP) in collaboration with the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Respiratory Care Board of California, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA); additional certifications required as outlined:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from AHA upon hire:
