Influence EHS strategy and priorities through data-driven risk assessment and alignment with business objectives.
Serve as a trusted advisor during significant operational changes, capital projects, investigations, audits, and regulatory interactions.
Provide leadership, direction, and integration across areas such as industrial hygiene, risk assessment, and process safety management.
Oversee emergency response and life safety systems to ensure preparedness and system reliability.
Manage site-wide physical safety programs, focusing on high-risk activities and serious injury/fatality prevention.
Oversee contractor safety, including risk management, onboarding, performance monitoring, and compliance.
Ensure continuous improvement of EHS management systems, audits, and certifications.
Directly manage and/or matrix-lead technical EHS resources, promoting capability development and performance management.
Mentor EHS professionals to strengthen technical depth, leadership capability, and succession planning.
Strategically allocate resources to prioritize high-risk and high-value activities.
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives for EHS tools, processes, and systems.
Ensure alignment with corporate EHS standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Drive corrective and preventive actions, ensuring consistent follow-through and effectiveness.
Requirements
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Science, or related technical field.
8+ years of progressive EHS experience in a regulated industrial, pharmaceutical, or biotech environment.
Demonstrated expertise across multiple EHS technical disciplines, including Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety Management, and physical safety management systems.
Proven ability to influence without authority in matrixed organizations.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and people development experience.
Preferred Skills:
Advanced degree and/or professional certifications (CIH, CSP, CHMM, PE, or equivalent).
Prior involvement with ISO-based management systems and cross-site or global EHS initiatives.

Additional Information
The base compensation range for this role is: $127,000.00-$170,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

As the Senior Manager of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), you will be at the forefront of advancing EHS programs across a broad range of disciplines, including Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety Management, Physical and Contractor Safety, Risk Assessment, Emergency Response & Life Safety Systems, and specialized Facilities Utilities Maintenance and Engineering (FUME) support. Situated in RTP Pharma with matrixed global engagement, this role demands an established expert who can influence at all organizational levels, mentor and develop EHS leaders, and strategically deploy resources to meet regulatory, operational, and business needs.
