Graduate Degree (PhD or PhD abd ) in Spanish Studies with a record of sustained successful teaching of Spanish at a University level. Native or near native fluency in English and Spanish. Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International Spanish.
Experience in computer-based instruction, and in the incorporation and development of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials, and resources in a blended/online/hybrid course delivery. Application of online student tracking systems. Competence in the use of web-based course administrative tools designed and supported by the University, as well as Connect, LearnSmart, Brightspace and similar eLearning platforms.
Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence; official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; references. Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision. Ability to work within a team; supervise/mentor the TA assigned to their section; clear comprehension of multi-section teaching; active participation in curriculum development; sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation; student assessment; prompt and accurate marking. Commitment to participate in required committee marking including on-line activities, mid-term and final exams.
Commitment to responsible time management ( e.g. course structuring, punctuality for lectures). Availability for individual consultation with students (office hours 1.5 hours per section per week required ) and proctoring exams.
